Message from the Principal
Dokkyo is a school that places human education at its core, aiming to cultivate character through the pursuit of knowledge and the refinement of intellect.
Founded in 1883, Dokkyo has a history of more than 140 years and is known for its distinguished tradition. Our first principal, Dr. Nishi Amane—known as the father of modern Japanese philosophy—emphasized at the opening ceremony the importance of education that integrates intellectual, moral, and physical development. Later, Dr. Amano Teiyu, who built the foundation of postwar Dokkyo education as the 13th principal under the founding spirit of the Dokkyo Educational Association, valued culture and rationality and worked to nurture students of refined character. This philosophy has been passed down as the guiding educational principle of our school.
At Dokkyo, we hope students will grow greatly as individuals through six years of interaction with classmates, seniors, and teachers. Dokkyo students are expected not only to achieve academically but also to think independently, approach various challenges with intellectual curiosity, maintain sound minds and bodies, greet others properly, and treat people with respect and kindness. We sincerely look forward to welcoming you into this community.

English Education & German Education
Our English program develops practical communication skills for students’ future academic and professional success. In addition to regular classes, students participate in online English conversation and team-teaching lessons with native instructors, strengthening their communicative competence. Overseas programs such as study tours to the UK and New Zealand allow students to experience English-speaking cultures firsthand. The curriculum also supports independent learning through apps and preparation for proficiency tests. In addition, through its long-standing German program, we intend to foster globally minded leaders with multilingual and multicultural perspectives. Students engage with German language and culture through coursework study tours, and exchanges with sister schools, broadening their global outlook.
Global Education
We aim to cultivate global citizens who can cross language barriers, respect diverse values, and actively contribute to the future of society. As international exchange increases and multicultural coexistence becomes more important, students are encouraged to interact with people from different cultural backgrounds. Through diverse language education that goes beyond classroom learning, the school develops students’ communication skills, cultural awareness, and expressive abilities. Its global education program also nurtures leadership, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to contributing to both global and local communities in an increasingly interconnected world.
